Check out this excellent article posted by mizzoH on Alex O'Loughlin Rocks! on December 15, 2009
Those of us who are speculating on Alex O’Loughlin’s next project will find it interesting to know that casting descriptions were recently released for one of the shows on the list of several possibles! We’re already aware that CBS has ordered a pilot for the Criminal Minds spin-off — remember, the apparent intent is to introduce the new show in an episode of the existing one in the spring of 2010 — and Spoiler TV recently published some more details about the characters involved.
The pilot is expected to be shot between February 16th and March 5th.
[COOPER] 45-50, all ethnicities. The team leader, he’s fierce in his loyalty and mysterious in his daily life. A former star profiler in the BAU, he’s been off the radar for the last eight years – leaving only a trail of rumors and legend in his wake. He runs a team that exists outside of FBI bureaucracy and is intensely loyal to him.
[GINA] 28-32, all ethnicities. She’s strong, intelligent. Raised in a tough neighborhood in Baltimore, she managed to avoid the streets. Got straight-A’s. Was the first person in her family to ever go to college. Recruited from school to the FBI, she finished at the top of her class at Quantico but was destined to work deep cover in the same streets she’d managed to escape. Her father died before he could learn that she hadn’t wasted her life. After she quit the FBI, Cooper talked her back by inviting her onto his team.
[MICK] 30, all ethnicities. Formerly of the British Special Forces, though he was discharged for reasons that remain classified. Expert sniper. Survivalist. He was educated at Cambridge but his demeanor is more charmingly rakish than posh. He’s as adept verbally as he is physically and he knows it. Part puppy, part guard dog.
[PROPHET] 30s, African American. A former gang-banger from L.A. He did seven years in prison for drug trafficking but found Jesus in jail. He’s street-smart, connected but also incredibly dexterous at quoting scripture. He feels this unit is his chance at redemption – a way to direct his street skills toward a noble end.

Here are some articles grabbed on the network about the next Mandy Patinkin's appearance on Three Rivers

Mandy Patinkin guest stars on CBS' `Three Rivers', The Associated Press, October 14, 2009
The network says the former "Criminal Minds" star will make a guest appearance on the medical drama "Three Rivers." He'll play an aspiring organ donor.
Patinkin received corneal implants, donated by the families of a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, to correct a disease that distorts the shape of the cornea and severely impairs vision.
Mandy Patinkin to appear on 'Three Rivers', by Lynette Rice, October 14, 2009 - PopWatch
This just in from the let-bygones-be-bygones division of the CBS casting department: Mandy Patinkin — the very talented but oh-so-complicated actor who walked off of Criminal Minds after its second season — will guest star on an upcoming episode of Three Rivers, the network’s new drama about organ transplants. Patinkin, who was the recipient of a double corneal transplant, won’t re-enact his real-life problems with degenerative eye disease; instead, he’ll play an ALS patient who wants to be taken off life support so his organs can save others. In a network press release today, CBS tried to make hay out of the fact that Patinkin has a “very personal connection with organ donation,” but I think they were missing the point. Patinkin’s back, baby!
THIS JUST IN... ...From the CBS Television Network EMMY AND TONY AWARD WINNER, AND REAL-LIFE DOUBLE CORNEALTRANSPLANT RECIPENT MANDY PATINKIN TO GUEST STAR ON "THREE RIVERS"
NEW YORK, Oct. 14 — Emmy and Tony Award winner, and real-life double corneal transplant recipient Mandy Patinkin ("Criminal Minds") will guest star on an upcoming episode of the medical drama THREE RIVERS, which airs Sunday nights (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Patinkin plays Victor, an ALS patient who asks to be to taken off of life support following a car crash, so that his organs can be used to save others.
Patinkin has a very personal connection with organ donation, in 1997 and 1998, he received corneal transplants in his right and left eyes to correct the condition of keratoconus, an eye disease that creates a "cone-shaped" cornea which impairs vision severely. Patinkin's corneas were donated by the families of a 13 year-old girl (right eye) and a 12 year-old boy (left eye).

Vampires still fascinate viewers and media...

"He was a tall, cadaverous old man with white hair and eyebrows so bushy they almost created a unibrow. His fingers and ears formed points; his palms were hairy. The breath, rank.
...
Stoker's "Dracula" wasn't the first book about vampires — John Polidori's "The Vampyre" from 1819 is given the credit for that — yet Stoker's book remains the definitive vampire novel even as hundreds of similar books continue to be released. The hunger for vampire stories is so intense today that these new books are quickly spawning film and television adaptations.
...
With each visual interpretation, the face of the vampire is changing. No longer does he look like evil incarnated, but instead can take on the form of the good-looking guy down the block.
...
"Moonlight": This 2008 CBS series starred Alex O'Loughlin as the detective vampire with pouches of blood in the fridge who loved a pretty mortal (Sophia Myles). It lasted only a season, but has a nice cult following..."

"... The Outfest Legacy Awards on Wednesday was such a nice evening at the DGA. There to honor writer/director/producer Alan Poul was his Tales of the City star Laura Linney. Bruce Vilanch was, as always, a very funny host and others present included Peter Paige, Wilson Cruz, Rex Lee, Alex O’Loughlin, Calpernia Adams, Candis Cayne and Outfest Executive Director Kirsten Schaffer.
The Legacy gala benefits The Outfest Legacy Project for LGBT Film Preservation. It’s the only program of its kind in the world and anyone who has seen restored versions of such films as Parting Glances, Word is Out: Stories of Our Lives, Choosing Children and Queens at Heart (unveiled Wednesday night) knows how important and impressive this work is.
Without the restoration, many LGBT works would fade into oblivion and along with it a big chunk of LGBT history that is well worth preserving.
...
It was fun to chat up the handsome Alex O’Loughlin, the Australian actor who stars with Jennifer Lopez in Alan Poul’s feature film directorial debut The Back-Up Plan.
Alex did not participate in the awards as far as being onstage but he wanted to be in the audience to support Alan who “has become someone I love very much. He’s an incredible director. He is so smart, he is so well-read, so well-prepared, he’s the consummate professional and a terrific guy. He means the world to me and it’s a pleasure to be here tonight.”
His new CBS series Three Rivers debuts on Sunday so be sure to read my interview with Alex about thar to be posted this weekend..."

I got this beautiful story from LLOL. Thanks to Deb and mizzoH

THE DEADBOLT: Tell me about the promo spot for Three Rivers?
[Andrew McMahon Jack's Mannequin] MCMAHON: It's actually kind of a funny, sort of one of those kismet kind of things. I was actually doing a showcase for CBS. I do the showcase and there's this lady who works there and is just awesome, kind of a very cool supervisor who works at the network. We were chatting and she sent up something after the thing and she said, "Oh, I just heard Jack's Mannequin and we should definitely try to get them into one of our shows." And the guy wrote back and said, "Dude, that's so wild. I've been attaching 'Swim' to Three Rivers and it really works well."
She started telling me about the show and I was like, "Are you aware I'm a transplant patient?" And she's like, "What are you talking about?" I'm like, "That's hysterical that that's the show you would put me into." Granted, it's not organ transplant. But yeah, I remember saying, "Is this shit going to follow me around for the rest of my life?" [laughs]. But it was kind of funny that it was so coincidental. But she kind of jockeyed the thing for us, and a couple of guys in my management company really helped get these spots put together, and it's definitely a good little blip for us as far as some access to the mainstream I guess.
A 'Dear Jack' Journey of Recovery with Andrew McMahon of Jack's Mannequin by Troy Rogers

The same story was told in a Carol Barbee's interview:
Also, there’s an interesting story behind a promo that CBS is doing for the show. They had identified this great song to use in the promo – it was very focused on survival – and the band that sings the song didn’t initially want to sell the rights to it. But, when the band found out that it was to promote a show about organ donation and transplantation, they instantly wanted to give the rights to it because the band’s lead singer had had a bone marrow transplant. They felt a great personal connection, which I thought was fantastic!

Check out this funny article posted by Sara Bibel on September 19th, 2009 - Fancast
If you are a single male television character who is having trouble attracting the woman of your dreams, there is a simple solution: become a vampire. It may seem counterintuitive. After all, no woman has ever written, “I am seeking a serial killer who will always be fighting his urge to mutilate me,” on her match.com profile. There would seem to be many disadvantages to dating a vampire.
...
So why are the undead considered so damn sexy? And why vampires, specifically? No one is hot for zombies. Academics argue that being bitten is a literary metaphor for sex, specifically loss of virginity. The obsessive nature of vampire lust also makes him an appealing fantasy. Nothing is more important to a vamp than the object of his obsession. A vampire would never blow off a girl to play fantasy football with his boys...

MICK ST. JOHN/Moonlight - SHAWN SPENCER/Psych
The millions of loyal Alex O’Laughlin fans will crucify anyone who says anything negative about their man on-line. Fortunately, his beloved character Mick St. John handily wins the battle of the TV P.I. boyfriends. Mick’s pursuit of Beth is mildly creepy since he has been watching over her since she was a child. But hey, it worked for Celine Dion and Rene. He is open about his identity and strives to protect her from the dangers of human-vampire lust. He tells her that he loves her before they kiss. In contrast, Shawn has pined for Juliet for years and never done anything about it. In fact, the wimp is currently dating his former high school girlfriend because he can’t bring himself to make a play for Juliet. He has never admitted to her that he is faking his psychic powers. Shawn would make for more entertaining company, but Mick is the man worth dating. See a Moonlight photo gallery here and watch full episodes of Psych here.
Advantage: Mick
